My DGD, for whom I am making a hand-sewn kilt and velvet
Highland dance jacket, was injured Saturday playing league
soccer (football to non-USAzians). She and several other
girls were scrimmaging against the boys' team after her own
team finished their game. As she ran in for an attempt to
score, she slipped and fell, and the goalie fell on top of
her. She did not remember right away what had happened, and
later couldn't recall the details, but her right arm and one
foot is injured.

DD took her to urgent care, they did an MRI to rule out
brain injury, apparently there was none. But her right
elbow has something wrong, possibly a bone chip and they put
her in a cast. She also has pain in her foot. She won't be
able to practice her dancing or play soccer for several
days/weeks.

The competition on October 18th in Seattle is a definite
no-go, and maybe the next one in November as well.

:-(

Nevertheless I'm proceeding with the outfit....

Oh, bad luck! Poor girl. We'll hope for quick healing.

She's young and healthy, I'm sure she'll be just fine. Just
not in time to wear the completed jig costume at this
competition for the first time. :-(

I trust you took advantage of the opportunity to remind her that you
told her to stay away from boys until she's 25.

Nah, I'd like great-grandchildren before I'm too old to
enjoy/spoil them. ;-)
