Who wants to come with me when I go shopping and beat me with a
flexible curve anytime I go near fabric unsuited to my sewing
expertise?
I bought this fairly open-weave suting stuff with feathers and
glittery thread through it to make a skirt. Then I thought well I'd
better line it. (Should be worth another laugh/post)
Just spent 20 minutes trying to get it to sit straight on the cutting
"aka dining" table long enough for me to cut out a pattern piece.
Aarrgghh!

Perhaps I should just stick to embroidery and needlepoint. Once the
canvas is stuck in that frame it never moves!

Weight the fabric with tins rather than trying to pin it.

Try laying it out on paper and pinning it to that - especially along the
grain lines. Then pin or weight the pattern down.

When laying out and cutting the fabric and pattern, make sure ALL the
fabric is ON the table.

Thanks but it is all on the table.
I had to pin the fold and the selvages together to get it to sit flat
and straight. The weave is so open that it sort of stretches when you
pick it up. I'm having a cuppa before I look at it again. Might even
nibble on a morsel of dark chocolate with it...
Ah well it was a bargain at $5.00 a metre.

In case you or others need her: The patron saint of seamstresses is St.
Anne. You can call on her 24/7, of course.
