You probably do not need that heavy a thread.... I use pillow ticking
a lot when making pillows or as backing to utility quilts, and use
ordinary construction thread. A sharp Schmetz needle in a 14 or 16
size should work just fine. I would stay away from Singer needles.
Some fabric stores have a bit heavier polyester thread by Gutterman or
Mettler---top stitching thread used with top stitching needles will
give a heavier 'look' if that is what your after. I make deer and
moose hide bags and use ordinary poly threads for them---so far no
thread failure in several years of doing this.
