Well, I just thought I would check in and say hello to everybody! I
missed you all!
I have been so busy studying, I barely get time to even check my email,
let alone sew!
For those of you who maybe forgot (shame on you!) I am studying
insurance and hopefully in about one month I will have my licence! (I
also have to take a bylaws test after) To congratulate myself I am
going to sew something! Finally!

My dad gave me a gorgeous suit of his that doesn't fit anymore, he wore
it once or twice, so I am going to reconstruct it into gaucho's and a
fitted blazer. It is brown wool with a small check pattern on it. I
will post pics when I am done so you can see instead of me trying to
describe it.

Anyways, wish me luck, I will post regularly again soon!

I echo that! I'm looking forward to seeing the remodelled suit! :)

Glad you're back and Good Luck on testing and receiving your license.
The suit sounds like a winner, you should be great "fun" reconstructing.
I remember as a young child, about 5-6, some 70 years ago, DM did suits for
the truant officer in the city school district. She was very slim, but not
very tall, an almost masculine figure. She purchased men's suits only at J
C Penney's, DM would move the buttons to the other side and make new
buttonholes on the jacket, then make slim, straight skirts from the pants,
usually with a pleat in the back. She wore very colorful, frilly blouses
with the suits and looked fantastic. Since then, I think all truant
officers in that district has followed her example of always wearing suits
"on the job".
