We finally moved into our new place! We were homeless for one night because
we were told all along that we could have the house on a certain day, then
that day comes and the manager says no, sorry, has to be tomorrow.
Meanwhile our beds are in the truck, its already past supper time, and the
kids are tired. Luckily my mother invited us to sleep over! The house is
pretty nice.....no extra sewing room though, so one machine in a cabinet
went to my grandma's house, the treadle is here with me, and my serger and
portable machine are in a cupboard in the kitchen.

We are all happy to be here! I haven't lost too much in the move, just my
manual can opener and a set of my great grandma's coffee cups. I am hoping
to find them in one of the boxes in the bedrooms that I haven't opened yet!

I can't wait to start sewing something, I was going through a rough time
thinking of all my fabric not being used.....

Thanks!

Michelle Giordano

P.s. If anyone here had my email address and wanted to update it, it
changed....... dgiordano a t shaw d o t ca (pathetic attempt to hide from

Thank Heavens for your mom. I hope you find all your missing items. Enjoy
your new home.

As another recent mover (just over 2 months ago) I hope you feel settled
really soon. I was amazed at how quickly we unpacked and felt at home. The
room that took the longest was my sewing room as I had to wait for a few
weeks before my new the sewing table was delivered. It was worth the wait.
I hope you're sewing again very soon.

Viviane:
Best wishes in your new home!
What type sewing table did you buy? What special features make it
work well for you? Thanks,
PAT in VA/USA

I got a Horn one - the Monarch. This is what it looks like:
http://www.horn.com.au/Monarch-open.html

The main attraction for me was that it folds up fairly small when closed but
when it's open there is a lot of room. My sewing room doubles up as quite a
few other things (craft storage for my daughter, storage of other odds and
sods), drying room, quiet sitting room etc) so when I'm not sewing it's good
to put the space to other uses. It's on wheels so it's easy to move
around - I leave it in the corner when I'm not sewing and move it out when I
am. I like the fact that I can get the machine up and running really
quickly and it's easy to put away when I've finished. It's got a lot of
storage space - more than I realised when I took delivery as I used to keep
everything in a small sewing box. As Kate Dicey predicted, I have spent my
first few sewing sessions moving stuff around. It also looks good - I got
it in white. There was a special deal when I bought it and I got a chair
with it - just a simple typist chair but that's all I need and it's
adjustable. All up, a great buy.
