Over the years, I have replaced light switches, outlets, and lighting
fixtures. That's about the extent of my electrical expertise. It's
really very easy - just invest in a tester, the little gadget that
lights up if there's current. If at all in doubt, throw the main
breaker. It's better to reset clocks than to reset a ticker.

Next time you're in a used book store, take a look at the RD yellow book
if they have one.

I have been electrical assistant to DSIL for several of
those jobs, I can tighten a wire nut with the best of them.
;-) My circuit breakers are all carefully labeled, so I
turn on something on the circuit then shut the breaker off.

Will do.

Thanks!

Nah. The "plumber" I do call when absolutely necessary is
named "Hal" and his day job is teaching... music... to
elementary school kids. ;-)

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of time and just annoys the
pig.
