OK, I'd like to know who is responsible for moving Joanne's

Yuck! I have to make potato salad for a family picnic
tomorrow. Not only do I not want to boil potatoes and eggs
today, I don't even want to go to the picnic, it will be too
d_____d HOT outdoors!

I didn't do it! But I'd be glad to send it most anywhere. It's been
100º plus or minus a degree or three for over a week, and there's no end
in sight, and I'm getting tired of it. We've been running the a/c for a
week now because it doesn't get chilly enough in the night. It doesn't
get below 70º until 2 or 3 A.M. This is "August weather" and IIRC, it
was the same last year, though August was cooler.

Hey, we got a cool front last week, and the daytime temps did not even
go up to 90F. 89F was the hottest it got for two days and we thoroughly
enjoyed the coolth. I have the a/c question down to a science. At
night, we turn it up to 80 downstairs, and turn it down to 74 upstairs
for cool sleeping, then in the morning on my way downstairs I turn that
one up to 80F, and wait until I need to turn it on downstairs,
Sometimes I don't have to turn it on until nearly noon, as the upstairs
has sent all its cool down.

Usually we get temps in the hi 50s to low 60s at night this
time of year, so I can open windows to cool the house down
and I don't have to run the AC 24/7. Not this week, they
are forecasting daytime 100+ and nights of mid to hi 60s for
the next several days.
Very unwelcome! I was hoping to paint the living room
while all the carpeting is gone and before the new floors
get laid. The baseboards are removed, which makes painting
go so much faster. But the paint I'm using recommends
application at temps no higher then 77F. I doubt I can keep
the living room that cool.

I feel spoiled by our usual weather - the tremendous temperature drop at
night regardless of the day-time heat. Our brick house holds the cooler
air nicely if I air the house in the night, then close up before the
heat gets going.
No, you don't want to paint in high temperatures, unless you have super
powers. It dries faster than you can spread it on the wall.
