I will have more news, once he reports to Memphis next week, but he hasn't
played sports since he was a child. He will probably be on the writing
team.

Sorry, it's been a busy week and I didn't find any time to send my congrats
any sooner. Now that I've got a kid, I can fully relate to the feeling of
pride if one's offspring does well in the world. ;-)

That would have been my question, too.

What is that? What kind of sports are we talking, anyway? I bet you'd be
absolutely baffled if I talked to you about the Borussen or Schalke,
although round here, everybody knows that they're football (soccer, that is)
teams. ;-)

U. - love to learn about other cultures.

Ursula,
The Memphis Grizzlies is a professional basketball team, in Memphis, TN.
Since Kyle was young, he wanted to be a sportswriter, not a player.

Of course, when he was young, he was in 'Tee-ball', youngster's baseball;
then later in the Little League Baseball, but didn't play sports in school.

He has worked with different teams all through high school & college, as a
trainer and other jobs; but he always had his eye on writing the stories.

While in school, he wrote a couple stories that were published in the local
newspaper; then last summer, as I said, did his internship with the
Portland, OR Trailblazers, another professional basketball team.
As soon as he gets settled into his work, I'll know more about his job
description and will pass it on. He is very excited about it.

My ex was German/Swedish; his Mom was from Dusseldorf; his sister & I
remained good friends till her death. She always kept me informed about
German sports, etc. In fact, she taught me some German, by writing letters
to me for me to answer in German. But I have forgotten much of the
language now, as I have Spanish since I don't practice either anymore.

Thanks for the note.
Emily
