My husband purchased a Necchi-Alco model "A 509 B-2" machine at a thrift
store. He was told it works good, but the thread from the bobbin won't
come through to the top. I adjusted the tension, but still doesn't work.
What could be wrong? Also, it does not have an owner's manual.Any
suggestions?

The needle is likely not inserted properly. Did you get the manual
with it?

Sorry! I just re-read your note that stated you didn't get the manual
(that's what happens when reading usenet late at night....)

Try www.sewusa.com they may have a manual or threading diagram.

A manual is the most important 'tool' you can get for a sewing machine
- it shows you the threading diagrams (upper and lower), maintenance,
use, etc.
