I'm searching for magenta/fuchsia/really-dark-pink 100%
cotton velveteen and have struck out so far. DD sent me
this link:
http://www.banksvilledesignerfabrics.com/pages/home.htm

Anyone have any experience with them?

We are also looking in to Dharma, they have a dyeable cotton
velveteen:
http://www.dharmatrading.com/fabric/cotton/velveteen.html
but I would worry about being able to press cotton velveteen
really smooth after dying.

I'm looking forward to making DGD's Nationals outfit with
the tartan her teacher bought in Scotland, here's a link to
the tartan DGD chose:
http://www.highlandxpress.com/tartans/macdonglencoe.jpg

But matching the primary "magentaish" color in velveteen is
proving challenging.

Thanks for any input,

Beverly

If you decide to dye, I would suggest steaming the fabric, rather than
pressing it. I have a Jiffy steamer that I got for my knits (nobody
wants a "pressed" sweater or afghan) that is great for steaming wrinkles
out of things. Just hang them, I like the shower rod for this purpose,
and then steam the bejeesus out of them.

There. Problem solved. If you don't have a good steamer, now you have
a good reason to get one. You'll find lots of uses. They're really
great for that wool whatever you tossed into the washer without
realizing it. You pin those out on a padded board and steam them into
"growing." Blocking, too, of course.
