Ok looks like I will probably buy the square cushions but I am definately
going to make the MamaSan cushion since to buy it is $119+ shipping etc.
The chair is a 54x74 bowl/oval and I want the cushion to be 4-6" thick so
do I make the cushion the same size as the chair or do I have to make
adjustments for the thickness? I already have a roll of fibrefill to
stuff it the trouble it is only 40" wide so how do I join it to get the
size I need. I am assuming I should cover then tuft it to keep the layers
together before putting an outer cover on? Any thoughts on fabric for the
outer cover a, as i said beforefading is not an issue but something that
is not going to disintegrate is ;) Anything else?

thanks

If the MamaSan already has a cushion, I would just try to copy it as close
as I could as to size and cloth. Maybe take it apart to see how the innards
are done. Maybe it is a foam seat that is covered round and round to make
it the correct size? I would join the fiberfill roll by butting it together
and using long hand stitches to join it. Just copy it the best that you
can. But again, check to see what the cost will be. If you purchase the
cloth or fiberfill from Hancock's or Joann's, you can use the 40% off
coupon to save money on the canvas, and get a friend to go with you to use
another coupon on something else. Don't forget to slide the fiberfill
inside a plastic bag to make it easier to slide inside the canvas cover!

No Hancocks or Joannes up here in the Great White North, only Fabricland.
Need 4.5 metres of fabric, picked up plastic backed canvas @ $4 metre,
cheap ?? to make fibre fill cover $1 metre, fibre fill I have so $0, ...
so around $27 for material + time $?? and to order one is somewhere around
100 plus the shipping etc so not too bad a trade off. do have another
question though if I want to make the outside cover removable could I make
it slip cover style with a solid peice on top, then split the pattern
peice and lengthen one side so that when sewn together it creates an
overlap on the bottom side to slip the "pillow" in?

to slide inside the canvas cover!

Thanks for that tip will file it in my folder but since the fibre fill is
going into a poly type fabric cover will I have as much of a problem? I
figure it should slide into the outer cover fairly easily since the canvas
is already plastic backed.

The hand sewing stitches could be just overcast stitch and 2 - 3 inches
apart, so it won't take too long to do. If you do the coushion in 2 or 3
day steps, it won't seem to take so long, or be so aggravating!
Just thinking, but if you use foam seating cushions you could join the
plastic bags with hand sewing to keep it from getting wet. I like you idea
of overlapping the fabric in the back to be able to slide the cushion in and
out easily. You just don't want the "innards" of poly to be getting
wet---don't want anything to mold.
Good luck with this project!
