My pfaff 260 won't turn over, and I suspect the motor brushes, one (cannot
get to other) of which looks very worn, and short, so there is little spring
pressure against the armature.. The power cord is fine, the speed control
knee switch checks out, and the motor will occasionally do a partial
rev, then stop. None of the gears nor drive is frozen.
Anyone here know how to get the motor free from the base of the machine for
brush maintenance, or can you direct me to a technical/maintenance sewing
machine newsgroup or website? The lower brush is blocked by a drive
axle, and it looks like hell to remove the motor to access the brush screw on
that side.
Thanks,
Roger

As a vintage Pfaff lover/owner myself, my two favourite resources are:

Yahoo Groups: OldPfaffPhourum

Brubaker's Sewing Center 1-717-354-8332

The old Pfaff forum is a group of like minded Pfaff lovers dedicated to
the old mechanical Pfaff machines.

Brubakers is my hands down favourite sewing dealer as well as resource
for new and old Pfaff parts and such. Their repair department is simply
the best.

Best of luck to you,

Candide

My Pfaff has a loose plug where the foot feed plugs into the machine. It
causes exactly the problems you describe.
For some reason the plug in is not tight and sometimes will even fall out.
