Our granddaughter (shes 10) is in the drama club. (small country school,
only one drama club for all ages) and they are putting on a play next
month, it is set in the Its titled "On the Radio" and has to do with the
different time frames and different music styles that it has come to
play......oh...anyway, Shayna will be singing "Can't buy me love"..by the
Beatles, the 60's era, and although we did manage to find her a pair of
round (JOhn Lennon style glasses)...we can't seem to find any 60's
clothing....the schools drama club started on this "Play" a little bit late,
and I need to come up with her an "outfit" like NOW! as the play is "next
month"...My husband and I spent yesterday searching through every local
"thrift store" and last week I hit yard sales............NO LUCK...can
someone suggest maybe where I can get a 60's style pattern...I am begining
to think, I'm going to have to go to my "machine" for this one...Thanks
sooooo much, all of you belong in Hollywood sewing on sets, as you come up
with the best ideals ever!!!!!!!! Judy

In the 60's a group of us used to wear black pants and white blouses w/ long
sleeves and pretend we were the Beatles.

How about a princess-seamed dress. You can find the pattern for a
simple princess-seamed dress in any fabric store I think, and that's
easy to make. Just make it an A-line, that's all. Usually that is a
sleeveless fashion for the 60's- as I don't wear sleeveless dresses, I
would wear a stretchy longsleeve shirt underneath. Use brocade fabric,
preferably with shiny gold threads. Wear white tights underneath, and
put big square flat bows on some 1/2 inch squared-heel shoes.

Ahem... In the 60s, I wore lots of color, beads, flowing garments.
Caftans, djelabas, that sort of thing, with sandals. Leather sandals in
natural brown color. Actually, I wore water buffalo sandals from Cost+
most of the time. Although I did have one pair of sandals custom made
for me by a sandalmaker on Haight. I also had hair down to my knees.
Tourists would take my picture.
