Hi there, I learned to sew about a year and a half ago and have made
lots of thing, but they're all really simple, and not from patterns-
like aprons, handbags, skirts, but I have not tried anytops or
anything with sleeves just yet. I am also getting married in June. I
have chosen strapless bridesmaid gowns and I originally hoped that the
girls would be able to wear whatever dress I chose, again some time
for some other event. While this does happen from time to time, I
don't think this will be true of the dress I chose. For this and a
couple other reasons I want to give the girls as part of their gift,
matching Bolero jackets that they could then throw on over a cute top
on a night out. I am buying the fabric from the same place we're
getting the dresses and I found this pattern which I love: http://

The website says it's about a 2 hour project, I assume for someone who
already has the skills needed, which makes sense. I guess I wanted to
ask you all if you think this kind of project is something I could
practice with regular fabric over the next few months, and learn how
to do it on my own (as a personal, hand made gift to my best friends)
or if this is silly and I should just try to find a seamstress to do
it. Everyone I know, meaning mainly people who do not sew, thinks I'm
crazy for wanting to make them myself.
ALSO, on the website it says how much fabric is needed...just to make
sure would you say that it says if the fabric is 45 inches wide, I'd
need 31.5 inches of fabric? I just wanted to make sure i was reading
it correctly.
