If you were  Registered and logged in, you could reply and use other advanced thread options

Is it possible to use a spool of thread and run it through your bobbin so
that you don't run out of thread? Those d)(*& bobbins don't hold enough
thread and I am constantly running out, especially with embroidery projects.
if only I could use a spool of thread, it would be great.

If this is possible, I have a Janome 9700 with horizontal bobbin, can
anyone explain how to do this?

Thanks,

Jon

No, it is not possible to somehow bypass the bobbin..

The TOL Singer machines (XL5000 & XL6000) & the Elna Exqusite do have
what they call an "endless" bobbin feature, in which the machine
senses that the bobbin is empty, stops, refills the bobbin from a
spool of bobbinfill hidden in the base of the machine, and then allows
you to continue on, uninterrupted.

That is precisely the feature of the Singer XL5000 which
convinced me that it was the embroidery machine I would finally
buy. I own other machines for garment sewing, and re-filling the
bobbin has never been an issue for me.

Good question! I hate winding bobbins and I use heavy thread so I have
to change them out all too often. My guess, though, is that there's not
a practical way to make this work or, given the rate of flow of
information on this group, we'd all have heard about it by now.

I often buy the filled bobbins from Nancy's Notion or other sources, which
hold much more thread than filling a regular bobbin. You can also purchase
Bobbin-Fill thread which you can put more on your bobbin, therefore you
don't have to stop as often. If there is/was a type of device to keep the
bobbin filled all the time, I'd like to know about it.
