I remember Sandra Betzina talking of removing stains with the least
expensive brand of shampoo she could find. On one of the Sew Perfect Shows,
she showed an example. Now I keep a bottle in my laundry room for those
"impossible" stains. I told my DDIL about it and she changed from her
OxyClean, too.

how well does the sudsing wash out? it really annoys me to
have to wash a load 2-3 times (with 2 rinses each!) to get rid
of the suds.
Boo & i are both very sensitive to dyes & perfumes (i use dye
& perfume "free" liquid detergent, but all detergent has
*some* kind of perfume in it), so if there's any remaining
suds showing in the sink, i rewash until they're not visible
or i know we'll have rashes...

Have you ever tried putting some white vinegar in your rinse to get rid
of suds. It breaks them right down. When I do hand washing I put it in
the first rinse. Anything that is hand washed needs several rinsing anyway.
The shampoo rinses out quiet easily after removing a stain.I then put
that piece in the washer with the rest of my laundry. Just as I said not
in the dryer.
Since you are sensitive to dyes and perfumes why not try the same kind
of shampoo on a stain as you use on your hair. It only takes a few drops
for most stains.

Because of skin sensitivities, I wash my clothes with detergent, etc; then I
run them through the entire cycle again with clear water, and many times I
run them through the rinse cycle yet again.

ok, it's not just me :)
i do use vinegar for the rinse(s), as fabric softener really
isn't good for the septic tank.
i've been using baby shampoo on my hair. i'll try that on
some stains.
