Mostly, it's an organization to support children who are interested in
pursuing the agricultural arts.

My kids have never done it but I did lifeguard at a 4-H camp once and
investigated starting/leading a club. It's for girls and boys of a
variety of ages and they get together and choose the topic they want
to pursue and learn about (if they are not a specialized club already
- ie. specifically for raising and showing a certain animal). They do
everything from cooking, sewing ....you name it.
At least that's what I understood.

I have fond memories of 4-H Club. The first price I ever won for my
sewing, a plaid cotton dress made by an Advance pattern, was at a 4-H
fair. Even remember the 4-H pledge...well, after all, it was only about
a hundred years ago : )
"I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my
hands to larger service, my health to better living, for my club, my
community, and my country."
Not saying I've always lived up to all that, mind you.
