<blushing redder than red> Yes, of course, bobbins... I don't know where I
had my head. Probably still downstairs in the nursery. ;-)

Oh, I just took a look around at the various online stores and found some
who seem to have metal bobbins for H. So that shouldn't be the problem, I
think.

Yes, I will. The little darling - tonight at bedtime, she was still sitting
on my arm and kissed me and gave me several long hugs. It was actually the
first time that she consciously put her arms around my neck and fondled my
hair with her little fingers. They are so sweet, aren't they? This morning I
could have killed her because she got hold of a new kleenex box, ripped off
the seal (you know, the paper thing that is there to close the opening) and
pulled out most of the kleenexes in the short span of time it takes to load
a washing machine with pre-sorted clothes. Really, I screamed at her what a
bad girl she had been, and she just looked at me with her bright eyes,
smiling, making little bird noises in comment on the book in her lap, a
field guide to European birds. I was so cross, I could have hurt her, and at
the same time I was so proud of her making those bird noises. So I bundled
up my anger, stuffed the hankies pell-mell into the box and sat down to
unpack my new toy, ignoring her for the next twenty minutes. She came over
to look, but didn't do anything bad after that. They can melt your heart,
those little... ;-)

My grandmother once told me she went into her bathroom, where she used
to hand wash woolens and silk undies and the like in the nice big wash
basin, and found my mum, aged about two, stuffing her little hand into
the Lux soap flakes box, pulling the soap flakes out in handfuls and
throwing them in the air, shouting SNOW! with each handful... Delicate
little Lux soap flakes ALL OVER the bathroom, and that stuff was
EXPENSIVE! Being a thrifty soul, Granny swept them up and used them
anyway! ;)

I have 5 children, all now in the 50s, and four with children of their own.
All of them, at one time or another, threw Kleenex around, played with so
many things they were not supposed to touch. That;s just part of growing up
Children have a natural inquisitive way about them, as we did when we were
that age. She will grow up all too soon and go out on her own, so cherish
these precious minutes.

Oh yes, I do, I'm only too well aware that she will grow up so soon. Guess
I've been in a nervous state but we had a night off, DH and I, and went
swimming and dining afterwards and now we feel so much better. Still, I hope
she'll never do anything really bad, something that hurts her or somebody
else. Let's keep our fingers crossed and our eyes skinned. ;-)

I have a cat who pulls the Kleenex out of the box, one sheet at a time,
until there is a mound of nice clean tissues, only slightly ripped here
and there. I try to keep all the Kleenex boxes scattered around the
house upside down or with something heavy on top, but she still manages
to get to about one a week. When I find her near one and go to scold
her, she looks at me with her big innocent eyes that say, "I have no
idea what you're so upset about." We can't put the bathroom tissue on
the roller, either -- she makes a mound of paper if we do. It's kept up
on a shelf she hasn't reached yet.
