Drives me nuts, because it's so easy to do a good job if you spend a little
time with the setup. You know those white plastic conical throwaway coffee
cups that were supposed to snap into a heavier holder (I think the brand
name was Solo) -- cut the bottom out of one, stick the lens through it, and
use it as a light tent. Quick, cheap, fast, portable.
Color is more difficult, but that's why Pantone numbers were invented.
(goes off in the corner and mumbles about younguns that try to substitute
Photoshop for basic optical knowledge) <g>

Samples are always good. While you're waiting for them, have you started to
make your pattern off the current shorts?

Sigh.
Sounds like you need to come out to the Pacific Northwet and see what real
fabric stores are like. It's pretty cool when the burly warehouseman
who's just hauled out a new bolt of lining for you stops to admire the
Harris tweed you've picked out, and remarks that welt seams really
look sharp in that fabric. <g>
Hope you find what you need!
