Today I want to complete a Victorian corset. I need to sew the eyelets.
I want to use LITTLE eyelet holes...

I have a lovely eyelet embroidery kit Himself bought me for Christmas.
This is the first time I have had a chance to dig it out of the box and
use it...

It's beautiful: well crafted, sturdy - just what you'd expect from Bernina.

But the foot does not fit my machine! They do at least 3 versions of
this kit, and what was ordered was the one for the 1000-1630 series (I
have a 1005). I was issued with the wrong one.

The company I bought it from (Sewing World, based in Bournemouth) could
not have been nicer about the error, even though this was bought back in
December. They are going to send me a replacement (correct!) foot, and
I just need to send the foot back to them.

It won't be in time for this corset (even if it arrives tomorrow, I'm
out all day and the fitting is on Friday), so we are back to Plan B: use
the Husqvarna Lily's eyelet plate. The holes will be a little bigger
than I wanted, but at least I know it works!

So lots of kudos to Sewing World in Bournemouth for very pleasant and
sympathetic customer service when things went wrong, and a willingness
to put them right without question and as speedily as they can. Getting
things right first time is good, but sometimes putting them right when
things go wrong tells you more about a company. These folk go on my
Good to Deal With list.

I will post pix when this is done, I promise. For the corset-minded,
this is the Truly Victorian 110 pattern.

Yikes!

Great customer service.

I've seen your pictures of that one, and I'd love to have
something similar. My three-step method using the
embroidery machine works, but it's time consuming.

Yes indeed, and it's always great to hear of such good
service.

Looking forward to them! ;-)

Ooooh! Didn't know Bernina made such a beasty! You've got me interested.

Yes please. And could you explain a bit more about how the eyelet kit works
please.

Thank you for the cite - wonderful gizmo. I now want one but given the cost
Kate mentioned..... can I justify it? Yep, I have a new granddaughter.
