I am interested in getting a new serger. Which is better, Bernina or Pfaff?
And why do you prefer your choice?

What is good for one of us might not be good for you. Give yourself
some time to go "test drive" as many sergers as possible. Don't make a
decision until you've tried them all. Keep notes, then go back and pick
the one that felt the best.

All sergers are made in the same 3-4 plants, badged name does not mean
much so pick one that suits your needs and do not choose by brand
name. After looking at a few you will begin to see the similarities
and brand should become secondary to the choice. Also purchase were
they give unlimited lessons, cant stress that enough. It will make
you happier and your serger experiences greater.
Make yourself a 'serger demo kit' and take it with you. If they will
not let you use your own threads, fabrics etc go elsewhere. Choose to
do things that you would actually do with your serger at home, and do
not let them dazzle you with features you will never use. For cover
stitch check out the stand alones.......a better choice in my
estimation that fiddling with the serger to get the cover stitches.
There was a few deals where you got both machines on a deal.

The Bernina ones are lovely - really smooth and quiet for a serger.
Never used a Pfaff... Was advised againste them for my amount of use!
Mind you, I wore out my Huskylock 910! And that's a hefty beast!

They're both good. It depends which machine fits you best. And which
dealer fits you best.

If you already have a serger, take samples of the kinds of fabrics you
work on to the store and try them out. If they won't let you try
their demo machines on your fabrics, walk out. See which machine is
easier for *you* to use.
