I got a free Singer 201-2 machine, but it needs a new bobbin-case (the
one I have is missing the finger). Does anybody know where can I get
parts for this machine? A local place would be even better (I'm in
Sunnyvale, CA), but anything would be welcome.

Best,

- Cesar

Your local Singer shop would be a good place to start. Any sewing
machine shop that does repairs should also be able to get you one.

Oh well, I must search hard then, unless...

Is the finger necessary for the machine to make a loop? When I tried to
get it going, both upper thread sides would slide up the bobbin, so a
stitch couldn't be formed. By looking at the hook assembly I couldn't
figure out how one side of the loop was supposed to "keep in place"
(not slide over the bobbin), so I assumed the missing finger was to
blame.

Is that right? If not, does anybody know how to set the bobbin case so
that it works? Everything else in the machine seems to be in order, it
would be a pity if I couldn't make it work...

Best,

- Cesar
