Where can I find the model numbers on a Singer Machine? At the thrift
store, I am looking at one that looks like this:

http://www.allbrands.com/products/abp03627-1125.html

but I think mine is older. The main reason I am interested is that I
already have some attachments for a Singer slant needle machine, but no
machine.

So, that's a good reason to buy a 5th machine, right?

They're asking $35.00. It looks to work fine - I haven't played with it
but they have a piece of fabric in it where they stitched all the
stitches. There's no case, just the machine.

I value your opinions, but if you can tell me where to find the model
number, I'll gladly do my own research. :)

It will be on the right side near where you plug the cord in.

On the older ones, they are often on the 'arm', under or above the
reverse button.

I have a 'newer' 1970s Singer similar to the one in the picture, and it
has a metal plate near the plug end with the model number on it.

Thanks to both you and Ron. If I had to guess, mine is a '70's model. It
just has that distinctive brown on tan color scheme to it.

<< Word of warning: quite often, the feet and bobbins on Singer slant
machines are not interchangable. I found this out the hard way, so
check the specs for parts lists to be sure they match.

<< But of course--and, if the machine sews, $35.00 is a very good
price. You might want to open the body and check the condition of the
gears. I've spent bucks on one recent bargain because the nylon gears
were brittle. The machine sewes well and makes a fine stitch, so I'd
still buy it, even knowing I'd have to buy parts.

<< Play. Take your parts with you. Sign the adoption papers.
