I managed to finish the skating dresses on time. I couldn't get all the
group ones in a picture together. The on-the-ice picture is from the
finale. I didn't get one during the group routine.

They would have been better with more time. I did sew the seams twice
and trimmed and used French seams for the sequin skirts. I was glad I
did when I saw one of my last year's dresses being used in a solo
(maroon with a gold sequin skirt). As the skirt flipped up the look was
uniform, with no sequins peeking out at the seams.

The lion costume was for a solo to "I Just Can't Wait to be King" from
"Lion King." The fleece had basically no stretch. It wasn't my first
choice. If I had had more time I would have redone the zipper and made
some improvements in fit. As it was, I started to try to draft a skirt
pattern in the wee hours of the show day. After sleeping on it, I
decided to use a double "circle," actually square, The bottom layer is
opaque, a bit smaller and has the corners at the center front, back, and
sides. The sheer layers have their points at the side fronts and side
backs. All the skirt seams line up at the side.

These are less perfect than the things many of you make. I am happier
with my designs than with my execution. I have had higher standards on
other projects, but just didn't have the time for perfection.

Those came out great!!!! I really love the lion. That is possibly one of
the very cutest things I have ever seen in my life! Great work, Betsy.

It's always easy for us to see the imperfections in our own work. But trust
me, these are darling and you did a marvelous job.

Thanks, my skater is very happy with it and doesn't notice the
imperfections.

Very cute, and look very well executed for the "10 foot
rule", so relax!

Beverly, who also point out every flaw and imperfection when
I sew....

Thanks, I've done more sewing for the "3 foot rule" than for the "10
foot rule." I'm thankful that the finale picture is the closest they
got to the audience.
