This newsgroup is such a resource, for sewing tips and for living, and
always for humor. When someone showed me this, I knew I had to "share" it.

Please give an _armscythe_ measurement (that's around the armhole, measured with
the tape standing on its edge). We do not all have extra length from our
shoulders to the apex (the tip of the bust). Bigger women often feel the heat
more too so more sleeveless styles are needed all year round.


I added the underlining - it really made my day. We have all struggled
with fitting problems of various kinds, but are seldom physically in
danger from our alterations. The notion of "armscythe" is oddly
chilling, as some instrument of byzantine torture - what is a hair shirt
compared to an armscythe? Is a sleeveless garment better for the
armless? When I hear a speaker say, "Put down your arms," I think of
peace, not amputation. This changes everything....
