Aldous Huxley was called "Hux", G.B.S. was "Shaw" - except to snooty
people and then he was "Chat." Bert Parks became Pinky Parks when the
vet pronounced him a pink cat -- he was a pale gold to my untutored eye.

But I've had few cats who would come when I called them by name. I have
had some who came to a whistle, though. I've had cats who liked to
travel. Shaw for one. He would nap in the car and not announce his
presence until we were well on the way. He just loved to go. He and
one other cat did travel with us, Shaw went through the western U.S. and
Canada. The other went to Mexico with us.

Kate, that sounds like what I did in December when we bought the new washer
& dryer. Now it's down to normal weekly wash for 2 adults.

Our coffee maker began giving off steam sometime back, like boiling water on
the stove, so DS bought a new one after careful computer comparison
shopping. He is the "Official Coffee Maker" except I have to make mine when
he's out of town.

I had a nightmare of laundry when I got the last machine a year and a
half ago. Then the instructions (on the machine itself) called for too
much detergent (even the 'HE' stuff) I had about 15 loads too and each
was taking about 4 hours. The second day I called the company and they
laughed and explained there was in fact mistake. I wanted to wring that
guys neck! It sounds like you are doing much better than I did.

I just told dh the other day laundry is one of the chores around here I
really don't mind doing. I hang a lot of stuff out to dry most of the
time and I don't mind ironing either. I still would rather sew than do
laundry though. Good luck with your deadlines. I know you'll meet them
but don't go crazy in the meanwhile!

Like I'd ever pick lundry over sewing :)

Glad you can now do the laundry, though. Ours was out of comission
for a couple of weeks while we awaited a replacement part.

Fortunately DH does most of the laundry around here; I just wash my
work clothes because I like to take them out of the dryer when they're
a little damp and hang them up, so I don't have to iron them (I'm so
lazy...)

Kate, I have to ask, what are 'boil' washes? Is that just a wash
with the hottest water?

Yup - 90+ degrees. Kills all known germs dead! :D
