Just checking in with the group. I can't remember when I last posted,
but I'm here for a brief bit.

The family went through 12 weeks of various illnesses, but I think
that we are finally out of all of that silliness. However, the chaos
didn't start there. On 4/1, my darling pup had a seizure. We took
her to the vet and she was put on phenobarb to control the seizures.
Well, 2 days later she had another one and didn't come out of it. We
had already decided that if there was no chance of her recovering, we
wouldn't force her to stay with us in a constant state of misery.
Darling girl passed on with me hugging her and telling her how much we
loved her. We made it through the night, barely, and DS was having a
horrible day at school. DS, DD, and I headed to the shelter and came
home with Brady, a 110 pound chocolate lab, 4 years old, cross-eyed,
and goofy.

Brady doesn't replace Deanna or make the pain of losing her go away,
but he's so dang lovable that he IS helping to ease the ache. He's
also getting my creative juices flowing again as he is entirely too
large for the cushions that I've made for the cats and Deanna. Brady
won't go near the cushion that Deanna used to sleep on, so I will wash
it and donate it to the shelter or the animal hospital that all the
critters go to. So.....I will try to figure out a decent set of
measurements and then go through the stash of fabric that I have to
make him his own little....er....large bed.

Anyway, that's what's going on around here, when I'm not trying to
redo the sewing room...lol.

Hi Larisa,
Sorry to hear about all your troubles. When it rains, it pours, doesn't it.
Glad that everyone is well agian.

I just wanted to tell you about the dog bed I made last summer. The dog
loved it! I used Beaver Nylon. It was maybe 2x3 feet and 6 inches tall. It
was a very simple construction: 2 squares 2x3 plus seam allowances and a
long strip for the sides 6 inches wide (plus seam allowances). I split part
of that long strip and put a zipper in there. I made a pillow (2x3 ft) out
of muslin and filled it with those styrofoam balls, then stuffed the pillow
in the Beaver nylon sack that had a little more structure than the pillow.
I may not be making sense or you may have seen this type of pillow before.
I saw one in the store right after I made it for 3x the price it had cost
me.
Just my 2 cents.

Thanks for the idea! I have made beds for the cats, but they are too
tiny for Brady/Lumpy/Doofus (his name is Brady, but we use the other 2
depending on how goofy he is acting). I will check around to see what
I can find locally and give it a whirl.

My condolences on losing Deanna. But congrats on giving a home to your new
big guy, Brady. I'm sure he'll bring much joy to your lives.

We had to euthanize our 12.5 yr old sheltie, Rocky, last fall due to
dementia and a brain tumour. We've had our new puppy, Ace, another sheltie,
just over a week now, and he's filled a little hole in my life.
