Though some sewing may happen later - not all of it done by me!

Todays list includes:

Getting that dying done! I need to hand dye some silk/cotton mix
ribbonweave fabric (satin stripes alternated with sheer strives - very
subtle and nice). I need to tidy up Out There first, in order not to
get stuff covered in dye... Were's me rubber glubs...

Stick the rhinestones on the dance costume and sew the straps down and
the hems up! Just waiting for the buckle to land and then I can
complete it... If the buckle doesn't come in the post today, I may ring
the customer and put her off: no point in coming out here just to come
back another day.

Press and put back together the Regency pantalettes, which needed an
alteration...

Go out and collect the GMNT's webbing, T shirts, and the parachutes and
zips from the shop in Midstone.

GMNT has lots of name tapes to sew on, some small stuffbags to make out
of a pair of well worn trousers picked up at the War & Peace fair
yesterday, and another pullover to make. Must get pix of him in his
pullovers...

Tidy living room and get it hoovered...

Let's see how it goes. Nothing will start until I get up from this
pooter, however...

OK, that's in the dye bath now, along with a chunk of pure silk
georgette the same size. Between the two I should be able to concoct a
Regency style gown for a lady of mature years. This afternoon I shall
use the machine dye in the same colour to dye some cotton voile the same
colour to use as a lining layer, should we need it...

Bucklr failed to arrive with post, so left message with customer...

That will be after 4:00pm.

He'll be starting that after lunch... I'll make lunch in about half an
hour.

I'll get started on that while the fabric is in the dye bath...

Not too bad so far... I tell you something good, though... I made the
dye bath HOT and about twice the recommended strength, and the two bits
of fabric weigh a bit more than the packet says it's for... But I
plunged the fabric into the hot dye and (wearing me trusty
rubberglubs!), squeezed it for a few minutes, as if I was hand washing a
woolly pullover... The heat was fairly intense (wouldn't have wanted
it that hot without the rubberglubs), and that and the squeezing has
made my hands feel quite a bit better! Wey hey! fabric dying as a
physio treatment! Who'd have thunk it!

Makes perfect sense! It's not unlike my little paraffin (wax) bath that
I dip my hands into when they get achy. I don't use gloves, but I do
slather hand lotion all over them (remove rings) before dipping. You
don't leave your hands in the hot wax, just dip and remove, dip and
remove, repeat..... after the wax cools, it strips off easily because of
the lotion, and your hands feel wonderful. It also causes the lotion to
soak into the skin more than it normally does, so I get non-achy, soft
hands.
