Could anyone recommend a website that has free patterns
for stuffed animals. My gf wants to make a cat (lying down).

Or are there any books you'd recommend?

Wait until the local fabric store has patterns for 99c apiece and then
buy one.

This is just links to various free patterns around the web, so I imagine the
quality would be varied.
