His autobiography is interesting, and it's even in an etext form,

but since it's in the Harvard Library of Classics, your public library
should have it.

Sorry, I'm a bit behind. Should have read the other postings, but anyway...
If you still loath the book after two chapters, just chuck it out. No use
wasting your precious time on something that'll leave a bad taste on your
tongue. ;-)

I'm about to do that. I had read a good review of this
particular book, and I keep thinking it's my fault I can't
find the good in it. :-(

I know the book reviewers should be able to recommend good books that the
John Q public will enjoy, reading; but in my case, I often find the book
least recommended is the one I enjoy the most and vice versa. The same goes
for many movie critics as well. Of course, I am different.
