Hi all,
Thanks very much Kate and others for advice on sewing a knit maternity panel
onto a woven fabric: I did it with the woven fabric upwards this time, and
it was so much easier.
I got some "t-shirt" fabric in two different (but both light) weights from
PointNorth. They took twice as long to arrive as they had estimated, and I
was beginning to panic, but in fact they arrived in good enough time. I've
used one for the maternity panel in a pair of lightweight cotton/nylon/lycra
pants, and I've started on a t-shirt from the other, which I should be able
to finish easily this weekend.
Anyway, for the question. I have leftovers from these fabrics, and I'm
wondering if they'd be ok for making baby clothes. Most baby clothes seem to
be made from cotton, whereas these fabrics are polyester. Is there any
problem with using poly for baby clothes?
Thanks again,
Liz

I am glad that worked for you! I have used poly knit for baby clothes and
never had a problem. Here is a pic of one for my cousin's baby:

No. No problem at all here in winter: if you look at a lot of bought
baby clothes, there's a lot of poly in them. if you are seeing a lot of
cotton baby things, I'd guess you are looking at the better makes! :)
But anything from Point North will be goos quality and will be fine,
especially if they are nice wicking fabrics.
