I may have mentioned how my MIL wanted us to *always* have formal family
pictures done for our CHristmas pictures. Well, here is the result she
got.....we WON'T be doing this again!!

What's wrong with it? You don't HAVE to have everybody in matching
outfits, just all dressed respectably for a formal photo. It seems to
me to be a small enough thing to do to keep a grandma happy.

Larissa,

I think the portraits are great. Good looking family, you photo well.
Someday you'll look back and be sooooo glad you had them done - it's such a
great way to track the years.

I don't think you have to match outfits either, just nice outfits would be
fine.

Larisa,
I understand your point of view. I also understand your MIL. Gee, I hope
I'm not that demanding as a MIL. But then I like the(and to be)
different. A Scottish themed picture would be just fine with me!!

But as a photographer, I have to be a bit more critical of this
composition. Not of the clothing or the people. Just the way the people
are placed does absolutely nothing for the people or the beautiful outfits.

Forget this and do what you want in the future. And if, by some chance,
your MIL complains about not having a recent, say three or four years go by,
formal family portrait done, then do one in your Sunday go to meeting
clothes.

Ya can't please everyone. And sometimes, some people can't be pleased at
all...............let it go.

Breathe deep, relax, let go,

Hehehehehehehe! Why do you look like the Barbie Family? ;)

I see exactly what you mea, though the frockery is excellent, the
picture well composed, and the photography competent.

Next year, send candid shots that show you all in more typical dress and
occupation. :)
