Pressed and hanging in the hall. I'm going to take it over
Friday, and do a muslin fitting for the red velveteen
Highland vest at the same time. I started the kilt on March
2, and put in a total of 2,686 minutes (44.76 hours),
counting all sewing and pressing time. That does not
include the time I spent "studying", or the consultation
with the expert. And I took several days off altogether to
play, help DD with the costume, celebrate my birthday, etc..

I averaged about 2 hours a day, more than that and my hands
and back just ached. So now I know, if I can average 10
hours a week, five days a week, I can make the next one (in
the fall with tartan from Scotland) in just over 4.5 weeks
if I stick to it. And I really expect the next one will go a
bit faster, as I learned so much doing this one. Also,
*every stitch* (with the exception of the serged bottom) of
this one was done by hand, I think a few shortcuts on the
machine would move the process along a bit faster.

And I also know there's no way I could do this for $$$, as I
don't know anyone who would pay my rate for that many hours.

I am going to try to get some things made for the trip, so
pics will probably have to wait until I get back.

Now, look, missy, you're just gonna have to suck it up and
be patient!!! I'm too busy making dress slacks for the trip
at the moment.

Plus, Thursday is garbage and re-cycling pick-up day, so I
had to mow the lawns, get a bunch of limbs cut down to size
for the yard debris bin, and get all the
paper/plastic/metal/glass properly sorted and binned.

Maybe next week....
