We have a doorbell...

Those who have visited us will know it sounds rather like an old
fashioned fire bell. It is LOUD! The reason is that when we are out
the back, with washer and dryer grinding their teeth, we want to hear it.

Today I wanted to catch up on some missing sleep so I headed back to bed
after br4eakfast. Himself is under the weather and working, so not
available for natter and comfort. A good book and a couple of hours kip
would do me nicely...

ZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZzzz... ... ...

BBBRRRIIINNNGGG!!!!

Kate-shaped dent in ceiling!

But the postie brung Good Stuff! So I shall forgive him.

One parcel containing:

Book: Basics of Corset Building
40 spiral wire endcaps
25m of 7mm spiral wire continuous boning
one nice long corset lace...
Truly Victorian's Late Victorian Corset pattern

I still need to order a busk, but didn't want to do that until I'd done
the mock-up and fitting to see what length it needs to be.

Now I need to trace off the pattern in the right size and get making...
I'll do that once I've stuck together and cut out all the kids costume
patterns I'm working on as well...

I said I was going to be busy.

The book is lovely.

Yeah, I know the problem. Here the parcel delivery service (no matter if
it's Hermes, DHL, UPS or whatever) always manages to ring in the sacred
hours of Christine's lunchtime nap. Sacred because it's my free time to do
with what I want. And they not only ring twice ('Sorry, I didn't hear it
ringing, so leaned on the button to make sure.'). Fortunately, she has a
sound sleep by now and most parcels go unnoticed by her. Anyway, I wonder
how they manage to figure out exactly the time you are sleeping (or baby
is), on the loo, or for five minutes out of the house to get some bread from
down the road.

Yeah, good stuff indeed. Got stuck at the page instead of making dinner...
Looks good on the page, seems to fit for a larger lady, might do for me? ;-)
Hah, I got a parcel today, too: The cutting mat and rotary cutter are there!
Now I need some time and peace to try them out. The mat seems to be slightly
thinner than the one I used for working with paper and cardboard, but I
still think that I'll be able to put the two together to cut out longer
pieces. I'll try it first on some denim to repair my favourite jeans.

Yes, and I thought you were too busy to send return receipts, but it seems
to have been the fault of the 'net in general because today I received a rr
for a mail I sent you what feels weeks ago. I thought it had gone lost...
Must have been too big to fit through the cables. ;-)

Keep up the good work, especially the corset building but don't forget to
sleep once in a while. ;-)

U.

I think that post took the scenic route... I only just found it and
opened it today, and I can't do anything with it as my head is full of fog!

Never mind, I've printed the whole thing and will send it to you by real
mail. I just wanted to do some translations, but perhaps that's not
necessary. We'll see... Been a busy day, gonna be another busy one (away
from home) tomorrow, but I'll see to it, promised! Don't worry, just no more
molten plastic on any work surfaces, OK? ;-)

Ya know..we have one as well, but it seems that here, they can't
figure out that it's a combination doorbell and intercom system, so
they just POUND on the door!!! Now, if I'm upstairs, I rarely here
someone knocking, but the doorbell is loud enough to wake the
dead....argh.

Seems like it's a good parcel receiving day - I got one as
well...nothing so wonderful as Kate's loverlies, but 2 shirts that I
had ordered (clearance, but I want them more for the memories than
anything else as this is probably my last year in MOPS - Mothers Of
PreSchoolers...hey, 9 years is enough for me!!). I'm still waiting on
a pattern that I ordered with a gift certificate from coming in 3rd in
a sewing competition. I didn't sew up the most yardage (it was a
fabric stash reduction contest), or use the oldest fabric, but I *did*
sew up the most items...so I got 3rd place...$25 gift certificate to
textilepatternstudio.com (I think that's the right website address).
There are some lovely wardrobe building patterns there, so I ordered
one to give it a go....even have some inexpensive knit to work with so
that i can get the fit right before I go back and purchase some of her
lovely fabric!!

Anyway....UPS delivered, and POUNDED on the door, then scooted before
I could even get there to see who it was.....wouldn't bother me except
that I've apparently got the latest bug that's going around (not
shocking since both children were sick over the weekend)....sad thing
is the knocking scared me more than the doorbell would have!

Ok, off to play with fabric for a little while - finally something for
ME!!! The going to watch SUrvivor with hubby (special night, guess
because of March Madness), then back to fabric. After sewing for
nothing but the craft fair for the past few months, this is a move in
the RIGHT direction for me...gives me a new dress (current project)
and allows me to clear my head for other tasks.

Larisa, missing you guys and my quilting buddies, but I have a few
months before I have to start gearing up for another craft fair
