... to start sewing agsin!
After quite a long spell when the muse left me completely, I'm sort of
working myself back to some more work on some of the dolls. I'm starting by
getting myself back into the mood by remodelling my very first doll.[1]
She's quite a tall girl by doll standards at about 4ft, but as I made more
dolls, I came to realise her body wasn't right, so I now have some nice
stiff calico to make a new body shape, this time with a bit more of a waist
and a bit less of a bottom. The original was intended to be seated,
although I had dressed her in a late Victorian style dress with a small
bustle and front apron. Now I'm going to reshape her body, and experiment
as well with using expanding foam in the head, hands and feet.
After that I have a 3ft bridegroom to dress to go with my Edwardian Bride.
(Audrey's doll, but she only ever stitches by hand, and that ain't gonna
work for a morning suit!)
After that there's a seated young girl doll, then an exotic Nubian Doll who
is getting Harem Pants and a wispy top, bothe ready for their clothes, then
a couple more dolls to make and dress......
[1] And who now has a nice cut on his finger where he was using a scalpel
to try and remove the pate from the top of the doll's head this morning!

Oh, that hurt, did it not? I hope it heals quickly.
The dolls sound like so much fun; one day, I may even try one or two, but
right now, I have a 10-YO and a 3-month old real live girls that wants
Gramma-made clothes, at least the older one.

Ah. it's easier making and trying on with people, even wriggly, bouncing -
even sometimes protesting - kiddies! Porcelain arms and legs that are fixed
unbending and at times with fingers outspread in (when finished) elegant
poses need quite some ingenuity for the fitting! My dresses are properly
fitted and removeable. I've never yet had to sew a doll into her clothes.
