And suddenly it's late again!

And my son is NOT coming home tonight - he's sleeping over at a friend's
house after going to the zoo with them! He's been out all day... Funny
how we miss them when they aren't about! I feel like I've left me right
leg somewhere...

My stash diving was successful, and then my friend came in and we spent
a while finishing off her beanbag chair... This is one we started about
6 months ago and somehow never got back to! You have no idea just how
many little poly beads you need for a beanbag chair made from a generous
1970's pattern! She only has a little car, and the poor thing was
STUFFED with bags of the little buggers! We'd put two big 2.5 cubic ft
bags in the damned beanbag yesterday, but another two went in today, and
she brought 4 more for the next one... A tiny car looks a tad daft with
15 cubic feet of poly beads stuffed in it! OK, so they are light, but
controlling bags of these things is a bit like nailing fog to the wall!
But, as I said, if she'd bumped into anything, she wouldn't have
needed her airbags with all the poly beads to pad her landing!

So yesterday we made her 4 cushion covers, and today we finished one
beanbag and cut the lining and outer for the next... Then this evening
I spent three hours helping a new MotB customer make her mind up about
fabrics and patterns for her wedding outfit: a glorious skirt, a nice
little top, and a long jacket to go over it, all in silk crepe de chine
and dupion! woo hoo! More pretty silks to play with! :)

But it may mean there are times in the next few months when I vanish for
a few days so I can concentrate on all the sewing. Next week will be
busy with toiles and pattern alterations , and after that I start on
some of the silk... Crunch! crunch! I just luuuurve snipping through
really nice silk!

There will be pix - I'm promised pix of the clothes on some of the
people as well as being allowed to use those I take while making them.
I'll try to do a crepe de chine diary/tutorial, but time is going to be
a bit tight: these weddings are all July/August! Then one in October
and the Lord of the Rings one in November... possibly! That one hasn't
got back to me yet...

I have poly beads in my tea and in my hair.

at long last! i found you again. it's lady sylvre/admom. between
changing ISPs and getting a new computer, i feel as though i've lost
half of my social life. i'm still educating myself on the differences
between a p.c. and the new mac....

loved the mental image of the car stuffed with bags of poly
beads...the only better thought is remembering when one of the darned
things exploded in the kids room. then they were everywhere, including
the hair, ears, bedclothes, ad infinitum...

anyways--nice to find you again!

I wondered where you'd got to! Welcome home!

I have them all over the sewing room, where we stuffed the beanbag.
Doesn't matter HOW careful you are, there are ALWAYS escapees, and then
they hide... for months!

I don't think Mary's beanbag will explode: this one is a cotton inner
with furnishing fabric outer. The next one will have a poly-cotton
inner (misprinted sheets and pillowcase panels got dirt cheap) and a
furnishing fabric outer.
