I've seen a Toyota overlocker on ebay - model SL1T.

It has the following fault :

"The needles when going down past the feed-dog are just slightly
grazing the hook underneath.
Because of this, the thread in the right needle keeps snapping."

Does anyone know if this is a major repair job?

Thanks

Susan

Timing issue, I think. Add the price of a service and small repair to
the cost of the machine, but first put new needles in and try sewing
with it S L O W L Y!

How much do you think that would be?

Thanks

Last service I had for my Toyota overlocker was about £50.

I routinely adjust the timing and clearance on my White serger. It's relatively
easy to do with just an allen key (hex head). I only wish the thing stayed in
adjustment - the adjustment bolt keeps slipping. It took a while the first
time, now that I'm used to it, it takes less than a minute.

If the Toyota is similar, it can be done cheap by the brave. Just move the bits
a little and snug it up - then see how the adjustment works by turning the wheel
by hand. Keep going till you have it right, then tighten it securely. As long
as you don't start pulling bits apart, you couldn't screw it up so much that the
repair guy can't fix it if you give up.
