As a result of a discussion elsewhere, I'm looking into Singer
commercial grade machines, particularly the CG-754 serger/overlocker and
the CG-590 with 14 stitches and a 4 step buttonhole.

Does anyone here own one, or has used one and can comment? I'd be
particularly interested in a UK stockist.

Try ringing someone like Colin at Tysons (02085741587) they probably sold
them new; they have three shops in London and have been trading for 59 years
Southall was the rag trade capital for years, if they had anything to sell
which interests you need to speak to Paul Tyson the owner for discount.
Please mention Liz from Milton Keynes recommended. Hope this helps

I spoke to a nice chap at Bogod in London today: Yuss... Bernina nanny
Singer here in the UK! He told me they are USA only machines, and the
closest thing he could recommend was the Bernina 1008, and all
mechanical machine. I found some at a good price at Sewing Direct. I
passed on the information to the person who wanted top know.

Ooh! That's what I've got.

I've only ever had two problems with them. Once one went bang but for some
reason it carried on working afterwards. And once I electricuted myself by
putting my finger in the bulb socket whilst trying to screw the bulb in
tighter only to find out someone had "borrowed" it. Doh!
