I have some nice upholstery-weight faux suede I'm going to
use to re-cover 12 dining room chair seats. Anyone have
experience using it? Do you run the nap to the front or
back? I don't suppose it actually matters as long as they
all are the same direction, but....
TIA,

When I did mine, I ran the nap back to front. That way all I have to do is
run my hand back to front, and the nap will lie down pretty. I don't think
it matters a whole lot, just so they are the same like you said. :)

Never try to teach a pig to sing. It's a waste of time and just annoys the
pig.

Thanks Sharon, that makes a lot of sense. I'm going to
start cutting and stapling today.

Well, since I couldn't read alt.sewing today, I spent the
day removing about 465,896 (only a very slight exaggeration)
staples!
Back story: I supplemented my six good dining room chairs
with 6 additional teak chairs from eBay a few years back. I
want to recover ALL of them with the same faux suede. The
eBay chairs had been re-covered, and the during the second
application they did not remove any of the original staples

or badly deteriorated leather. <sigh> So I'm carefully
levering each staple up and using needle-nose pliers to take
all of them out. I might be able to get away with leaving
them in, but I'm pretty sure I would hit old staples when I
start fastening the new fabric.
At least I know that when I start on my original set I'll
only have to deal with one row of staples per chair, because
I know I removed the original fabric and staples when I put
on new fabric 20 years ago.
I sure hope I get this done before Christmas Eve dinner....
