Hi, everyone. I'm new and haven't sewn in many years. I just bought a
new sewing machine - my first in decades...and have come to find out
there aren't a lot of fabric stores out there anymore. Anyone know
good places on line to buy quality fabric, buttons, etc.? Thanks so
much!

Your posting host tells me you're in Florida, USA. I have
probably 100s of fabric sites bookmarked, but I would want
to know what kind of sewing you are trying to locate fabric
for. Quilting? Women's or men's apparel? Baby stuff? Home
Dec? etc....

You could start with wwww.fabric.com. They have a variety of fabrics.
I've always been satisfied with the selection I've gotten from them. I
also suggest that as people post locations to buy fabric you look and
see what they have and if it suits your needs. Serge has put up some
really nice locations for you.If you are unsure it's best to get a
sample first. Most important though is for us to know what type of
sewing you want to do and then we can try to steer you in the right
direction.
Welcome to the group and enjoy your return to sewing.

I have had some good stuff from www.fashionfabricsclub.com. They are
basically a discount house, and also have some very good sales, so their
sale stuff might give you a few decent pieces to be going on with. I
have made quite a number of "everyday" clothes from that, but also have
some "good stuff" ready to cut into after I get the patterns altered to
exactly how I want them.
