I like French Curves. I pinched the set Alan had from his mum. Not
strictly sewing tools, but damned useful! Those, coupled with the
quilting rules and the yardstick get me round moth curves and angles.

A friend of mine (when in my teens) had a grandfather that was an architect. My
friend had inherited his set of drawing and drafting instruments including a
wonderful
set of French curves. It turned me, in part, into a fanatic about such things.
However,
I lament the fact that it is almost impossible to find such things anymore. I
was in
a local art and graphics store recently and there were no decent French curves -
just cheap little ones.

With more drafting done by CAD software today, such things will only get harder
to
find. If any of you find some at a garage sale (boot sale), flea market or
antique
fair, grab them!!

Mike, Fairgate Rule still has wonderful drafting and other rulers,
mostly metal, and they will actually make custom products (although
there might be a minimum). They are the "gold standard" for
patterndrafting tools.
