Why isn't there a compromise between a long arm machine and a traditional machine???

Why isn't there a compromise between a long arm machine and a traditional machine??? MSMenagerie 09-03-2005

I wish there was a machine that had enough distance between the head
and the body that I could really get some fabric in there. What
possible limitation prevents manufacturers from putting some distance
there??? It seems like the machines are getting smaller and smaller,
even quilting machines!

There is. Look at the Janome 6500P and the new Janome 11000. Both have
approximately 9" to the right of the needle.

Janome have a 6600P being released soon, if it's not on the market
already. The 11000 looks absolutely wonderful......;-)))

Other relatively new machines are the Janome 1600P, the HV Mega
Quilter and the Pfaff Hobby Quilter. Juki and Brother have had a
similar machine for several years.
