GAH!
I was fine when I got out of bed. The problem started when I was
getting dressed... Flung me undies and T shirt on the bed, as is my
usual want, and when I got to picking the T shirt up, the back went
Ping! Quietly. There I was, stuck leaning on me hands on the bed for
three minutes while things calmed down enough to let me sit down for the
next five...
Since when:
Sitting is uncomfortable
Walking is painful - and exceeding slow
Standing aches like a blue fit
the act of sitting is briefly painful
The act of standing is VERY painful
Not at all sure what I've done, but it isn't my sciatic nerve: the pain
is even and all across the small of my back below the waist and above
the tail bone. No electric jags from heel to back, no stabbing pain in
buttock, so not sciatica. Feels more muscular of ligament rlated.
I had to go out today. We needed to do several thngs in town, plus the
supermarket run. This afternoon we had to go into Maidstone to get the
GMNT some new soldier boots as his last pair made it to the guarantee
deadline and then seriously rejected one sole from heel to instep!
Himself also needed some telephone wire to upgrade the internal wiring
inside the house (it'll do voice, but broadband is hopeless, so new
cable was needed so we can site the modem in a better position). And I
needed soap and conditioner from Lush. This meant quite a bit of
walking about up and down steepish streets, on cobbles and stuff where
the town has been partially pedestrianized, and on uneven and patched
and lumpy pavements where it hasn't. Strangely, the back was more
comfortable in my higher sandals, but that didn't help the feet and
ankles...
Got home amd lay down for a while. Flat on my back with no head support
was the most comfy position I could find, as walking all afternoon like
the Hunchbum of Notre Damn! Ouch! has taken it's toll on the
fibro-aflicted hip joints and the RSI afflicted shoulders.
I managed to sit up long enough to down a cup of coffee and my dinner
(my gents cooked sausages for themselve and a chunk of tuna for me, and
make a green salad: I'd made potato salad yesterday, thank goodness),
but sitting here at the pooter is staining my patience, and doing the
bits of sewing I wanted to catch up on is out of the question.
I'm going swimming tomorrow morning: I'm hoping that a night's rest and
a swim will see it right. Otherwise my very busy sewing schedule for
the next month could be in serious dificulty!
Hence the winge.

Sending serious sympathy, heat wave, virtual massage, relaxation and
refreshment. Hope you do feel better tomorrow. This seriously bites.

Thank you. I'm taking a comforting bikki and a good book upstairs and
going to bed to see if that helps.

Kate, that's really awful, hope a good night's rest calms
things down for you. Human backs haven't quite evolved
enough, I think.

heat, ice, heat, legs elevated to help back settle into place......at
least, since your pain sounds like what I go through every so often,
this is what I do to get it back to cooperate with me.
Hope you are feeling better soon!
