I know this should probably be posted in alt.fashion, but it's related
to all those discussions we were having about bras. I've been
acquiring bigger-sized bras from overseas like crazy in the hopes of
finding the perfect one to make a pattern from. (I did -- the Fantasie
Rimini!) Anyway, in my hunt I've tried on several brands we can't get
in the U.S. Can I just say that the Young Attitude brand seems to use
wires that aren't very true to size? Both bras I got from that brand
have wires more like 36s instead of the 34s they're supposed to be.
Pretty good workmanship and styling otherwise, but a big disappointment
in fit for me. I'm trying to sell the one that still has tags on
Ebay...
And on the subject of sewing bras, my new Fantasie bra is off to Brenda
Solanki to make a pattern from it. I get to shop this week for linings
and fabrics because my in-laws are in town to babysit the kid! I've
been buying brightly colored 3-hook back bras off clearance racks to
cannibalize matching back closures, strap hardware, elastics and
whatnot. At $3.00 apiece it's a good enough value. And for fabrics,
there were some lovely designer camisoles on the clearance racks.
They've got nice lycras, laces and other trims all coordinated, so I
bought some to cut up for my bras. (I'm lame at textile choice on my
own.) I can't wait to get that pattern back!!!!!
