While patiently (?) awaiting the arrival of the blue-green
paisley, I decided to alter the petticoat I made for DGD
about three years ago for her first Nationals costume. It
is three tiers of white cotton, each gathered 2-1 to the one
above, with three 3/8"growth tucks and 2" white eyelet lace
on the bottom tier. The top tier is getting tight around
her hips, funny how young girls grow like that. ;-}
I removed the entire top tier (I had serged the seams, so I
had to remove the serging in order to make the alteration),
cut the front section to 19" wide plus seam allowance, cut a
new back section same width and gathered the middle tier to
the new top. I could have cut a completely new top tier,
but I had embroidered a pretty white-on-white Celtic knots
designs on it, and I wanted to preserve that.
Inserted new elastic for her slightly larger waist and
delivered it yesterday.
C'mon, paisley!!!

Congratulations on the "new" petticoat for DGD; I would have saved the
embroidery as well.
I am working on myself a couple dresses to wear in FL; we're going to be
there 2 days before the wedding & maybe 3 days afterwards.
One of my grand nieces & family have a time-share in the Disney World area,
and will arrive on Monday. I am looking forward to seeing her and finally
meeting her husband and kids.

Oh, I think the correct word is great-niece; anyway, she is the DGD of a
sister. But I believe all of you know who I mean.

I could have just embroidered a new design, but saving the
original was easier. And "greener"? ;-)
