Hey All,
DMIL took her Bernina 830 to the shop in December. It was not winding
bobbins. The SMG cleaned and all that. Then they have been waiting on a
replacement bobbin winder. Apparently the factory warehouse in Switzerland
had a horrible flood. So there will be no winders for a 30+ year old
machine coming from there. Everything was lost and they won't be retooling
to make new ones is what he told her. She did get a sidewinder and is
happy with that. However, she would like to get her bernina working
correctly again too.
Anyone know where a bobbin winder might be found? Ron, do you work on these
too? I told her I would post for her and see what could be found.
Off to the land of prom dresses I go!!!!

Indeed I do work on them.
I have to wonder if the winder is shot or just the rubber ring. It is highly
unusual for a bobbin winder to break. Usually they freeze up from lack of
use or the rubber ring gets worn.
My supplier lists the winder but is out of stock also.
First I heard of this flood deal.

Thanks, Ron. I forwarded your reply to her. I don't know if they tried
changing out the rubber ring or not. But I do know she will find out. ;)

Sharon,
The entire bobbin winder is listed here:
http://sewing-machine-parts-store.com/list.asp?subcat=Bobbin+Winders
I've had good luck finding some very hard to find parts here. I'm not
affiliated with these people but have been a satisfied customer.
