I would like to adapt my standard skirt pattern to a bias cut skirt and
cannot remember how I place the two pieces of pattern on the fabric i.e.
which was does the grain go on each as I remembered cutting each piece
individually, can anyone please update me as I haven't done it for at least
20 years.

Dear Liz,
Draw a 2-inch box on the pattern piece, the first side parallel with
the original grainline. Then draw a diagonal line through the upper
rleft corner, and lower right corner. Extend this line, and this is
your new grainline, throwing the whole piece on the bias.

Don't forget to add more ease because the bias cut skirt will stretch longer
and skinnier after you hang it for 24 hours. I am not sure how much to add,
but I am sure somebody will see this and know!
Michelle Giordano - who loves bias cut skirts, but not putting zips in them!

Michelle's advice is spot on! You really need
to take this into consideration. I bought a
bias cut skirt last year. It was okay for a
few uses, but eventually the side seams a few
inches below the waist line just split open.
These were messy, frayed tears, so I was not
able to repair it. Fortunately, the skirt was
not expensive, and was on sale to boot. You
get what you pay for!
