the pants cuff thread reminded me that i'd really prefer sewing
the boy some jeans... but where to get the pattern?
do i havee to disassemble a pair & draft my own, or does
someone make real patterns for boys (that aren't pull ons or
like sweats). i have some Burda shirts for him, but haven't
looked at their pattern book lately. i get a bit discouraged
after 15 pages of girly stuff...

I know what you mean - a bit of choice in boys' styles would be much
appreciated. Not necessarily fancy stuff, but more variation on useful
garments.

How about the Kwik-Sew for children book? Or the one by Martsden, I forget
the title of it since it has been sent to a niece, now that I am finished
with it. She has two precious boys and a little princess as well and loves
sewing for them.

there are some pretty decent patterns for cargo pants - not sure if you
are interested in them or not. They aren't BUrda...I htink the ones
that I use are McCall's...great for cargo pants OR sweatpants...which
reminds me I need to get cracking now that the weather is getting cooler
(DS picked out navy fleece and camo. fleece...yes, I let my kiddos pick
out their own fabrics...for the most part).

Give me until this afternoon and I will have some pattern numbers for you!

Dear Enigma,

You don't have to take apart the pants--just pin draft them. You put
a large piece of paper beneath the pants, and flatten each section,
then prick through the pants to the paper. Keep moving the pants
around to get each piece flat, and you'll end up with a decent
replica. Add seam allowances, then make a muslin to make sure that
the pieces fit together. Good Luck!!!
