i'm trimming the kid's linen pirate shirt (take 2) with cotton
lace. i can't sew the ends into seams, so i need to turn &
stitch the ends under. would a dab of fray check help keep the
ends from coming undone in the wash? does fray check wash out?

lee <take one pirate shirt had a too small head opening for the
kid (oops), but fits perfectly on my big black teddy bear>

Lee: Back in the day, when I had a
'real' job, I wore pantyhose to work
every day. (All together now: UGH!)
Well, I did not want my salary to
support the hosiery people, so I
'repaired' them. I used a dot of fray
check on the end of the tear or hole
when it was in a hidden area. I got LOTS
of extra use out of numerous pantyhose
... even though I washed them in the
machine in a net bag. So, yeah, it
works. NAYY. PAT

Back in the sixties, a hippie asked me to copy his dashiki shirt in a
bold floral cotton duck. Later on, (knowing very little about
children at the time) I decided to make a similar garment for my
three-year-old nephew. I cut the slit, tried it on him, cut it a bit
longer, tried it on him . . . he ended up with a shirt slit past the
navel!

Rather spoiled the "dashiki" effect.
