Hey All,

Ok. DH called yesterday to say there is a dinner with all of his new
colleagues next month. Bless him for giving me a full month to Freak
Out about what to wear!!! LOL

Here's all I know. It's a dinner with upper level execs, their spouses
or SOs. That's it. Gee, thanks honey. *sigh*

Of course nothing "going out to a nice dinner with my hubby" still fits
right. I've shrunk out of them. (the good kind of shrinking.)

So I was looking around yesterday online. Found this
http://www.newport-news.com/shop/product.asp?superstyleID=214676&gpcatID=2

Really like that but not print. That print would look horrible on my
olive toned skin....actually I would end up turning the same color as
the background of the print. Not an attractive thing.

Now, I have enough black silk crepe de chine to do this. I was
thinking of acid washing it to make it a little softer. (the stuff I
have is pretty crisp.) I also have a black background with a tiny red
floral print silk chiffon. I think I can get pretty close to this
dress using the bodice from New Look 6375 D and the flutter sleeve from
New Look 6370 C or D. Will take some playing with, but that's all
right.

What do y'all think? I'm fairly short, 5'4", a RTW 6 most days. (some
of them are loose though.) Short torso, so the empire waist fits
really well usually.

All black? Black with the tiny print overlay? Seen a pattern closer
to that? Other options all together??

Yeah a little freaked out here. I've not met most of these folks. The
ones I have met are all just wonderful people. But I want to make a
good impression all the same. Wish I knew more of the wives!!! I'd
call with the ultimate "girl" question....."what are you going to
wear???" LOL

TIA!!!

Sharon

Sharon, the dress is beautiful, but why would anyone want that style in such
large flower design fabric? The silk chiffon you have would probably
"drop-dead gorgeous" in that design or one similar. You could wear a nice
brooch on the left side neckline if you usually wear jewelry. We must see
pics of you in the outfit.

Emily, I totally agree!! I don't know why they would take such a great
dress design and make it up in that print. Ah well....to each her own
I suppose. lol

Thanks for the suggestions! I will post pictures eventually. ;)
Right now the Windows computer (where the digital camera is plugged in)
is dead. *sigh* This computer runs on Linux. I'm not sure if I can
plug the camera into this one. So pictures may be a while.... But I
will get there! (this may count as my entry into Joy's UFO challenge.
lol)

Sharon, Since you have a month why not make up both. Black is never
wrong, even with a small floral print. If you make up both you have an
extra for the next "nice" dinner. In the meantime you might get to know
the other wives better and be able to figure out what they wear for
special occasions.

Juno! I love the way you think. ;) I will see if there is enough of
the black silk to use it for a dress alone and then to line the
chiffon. That just sounds so decadent to me!! Since most of the time
I'm in cotton....sturdy cotton! lol A silk on silk dress would just
be so yummy!!!

Thanks,

Sharon
